To satisfy his ruthless thirst for something new and different, Gauguin goes to Tahiti, French Polynesia in 1891. "La Orana Maria" is one of his first works there.
In this picture, Gauguin combines Christianity with exoticism coming from the lands to the south. We are in lush and green nature, trees, hibiscus, the two banana ties, carelessly placed on a small wooden altar in which is written: "Ia Orana" [Ave Maria]. It is believed to be a Tahitian re-creation of the theme of the Madonna with the baby. On the left we see a beautiful angel with dark yellow wings. He has just dedicated to the mystery of the Incarnation the two women who are hands-on as prayer.
The reproduction "La Orana Maria" is a high quality print that has been wrapped on a hard back to the size of 30x40, above which the canvas is stretched on a subframe. Arranged with an appropriate frame, reproduction can be the perfect gift for a close person or complement to your home.
