Description
In early August 1929, young Salvador Dali met his future wife and muse Gala. Their union became a pledge of the artist's incredible success, influencing all of his subsequent work, including one of his most famous paintings, "The Persistence of Memory". The famous Spanish artist interprets this work as a "painted photograph of the dream". In it the usual elements of the landscape - the mountain, the tree, the sea are combined with surreal images. The combination is full of symbolism, which leads to 10 secret keys:
1). Soft, curved clocks - a symbol of non-linear, subjective time, randomly flowing and unevenly filling space. The three clocks of the painting are an expression of the past, the present, and the future.
2). The blurred object with lashes. This is a self-portrait of sleeping Dali. The world depicted in the picture is his dream, the death of the objective world and the celebration of the unconscious.
3). The hard clock is a symbol of the objective time.
4). Ants - a symbol of rot and decay, of morbidity. They are located on the only clock that has preserved its shape in a strict, cyclical, reminiscent dial to suggest that linear time is self-destructive.
5). The fly. Whether he called the Flies of the Mediterranean. In "The Diary of a Genius," he writes: "They have inspired the Greek philosophers who have spent their lives in the sun fed by flies."
6). The olive tree. For the artist, it is a symbol of ancient wisdom, which unfortunately has come to pass. That is why the tree is depicted dry. The stone nose - located on the Catalan coast of the Mediterranean, near Figueres, where Dali was born. The artist often depicts him in his works.
8). The sea symbolizes immortality and eternity.
9). The egg. It symbolizes life.
10). The mirror - a symbol of volatility and impermanence, obediently reflecting both the subjective and the objective world.
