Description

Iller Germain Edgar de Ga (1834-1917) is a French painter, graphic artist and sculptor. He is one of the most prominent representatives of Impressionism. He studied in the Louvre the works of the greatest masters of painting, he did not follow the classic pattern. This is evident in his angular figures, their sharp movements and not their perfect shapes. His self-portrait with a cylinder and gloves is very famous. Together with ballets, horses are one of his favorite themes.

This picture is titled "L'Étoile" ("The Star") and was painted in 1878. On the stage we see a lone ballerina, the stage lighting shines over it. It balances gracefully on one leg in an exquisite posture. On her white dress there are flowers, with a ribbon tied on her neck and a crown on her head. She bent her head back, her eyes closed, feeling the success of her performance (maybe the audience clapped for this young star at this moment), and her pink cheeks blushed, pleased with her achievement.

It could almost be a star that rises to the sky with physical strength and perfect grace. Perhaps at this moment she feels like a star on the top of the world, but a look to the left and we can see, hiding behind the veil, a black figure standing calm and alert. This is the patron saint of the young dancer. It is painted with strong brushes and threatening shapes. The stage curtains are fraudulently painted and this part of the picture seems to rush to the holiness of the star's glamor. The lines above her are trying to swallow her. This is the reality behind this radiant performer. Soon her dance will end and she will have to return to her patron.

Reproduction is a high-quality eco-ink print on an Italian canvas, caged on a solid back to the size of 30x40 cm, and over that size the canvas is stretched on a subframe. The picture is arranged in a luxury frame.
